About

Grades: 4-8 Dates: July 15 - July 17 Presenters: Pawan Wander and Chey Cheney Topic: Technology and Literacy Course Location: Seaforth (near Stratford) Main intersection - Main Street N & Goderich Street E Course Description Learn about the importance of storytelling from an anti-colonial, anti-hierarchical perspective in the Junior and Intermediate classroom using the powerful tool of podcasting. Each participant will create their own podcast episode as an oral storytelling artifact. Through this process, we will cover basic equipment set up and software used for recording and editing podcasts, as well as publication tools and sharing using self-created artwork. You’ll leave this three-day course with the skills required to help learners create a class or school-wide podcast that empowers their storytelling from a cultural and historical perspective while amplifying their unique voices and points of view. Course Requirements Participants will need a Wi-Fi enabled laptop or Chromebook and headphones that connect to their computer. A USB recording microphone is handy but optional. Tablets/iPads are not recommended for this course. We will be using software including Google Drive, WeVideo, and Adobe Express or Canva. Educators can apply for Canva Education at www.canva.com/education. Please do this in advance of the course to allow Canva to verify your educator account. You may already have a Canva account with AMDSB. There are instructions in the Core for Canva as well. Registration Registration is $75. Please visit events.etfo.org additional information and to register (login required). Please email Julie Millan (jmillan@etfo.org) if you have any questions.
